The long time and close relationship between Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films seems to be in troubled waters. Sources close to Shah Rukh Khan have revealed that Shah Rukh Khan is annoyed with Yash Raj Films and cracks have started surfacing in their relationship.
2008 was a bad year for Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra with their star studded films like "Tashan", "Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic", "Roadside Romeo" having failed miserably at the box office. The Aditya Chopra directed "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" starring Shah Rukh Khan was the only major hit that Yash Raj Films had, and that too at the end of the year.
The source revealed that the Chopras think that Shah Rukh Khan's success is due to Yash Raj Films. Although Shah Rukh Khan's "Baazigar" was a very successful film, the Chopras feel that their movie "Darr" brought him recognition and their superhit film "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" made Shah Rukh Khan the Badshah of Bollywood as he is today.
As per the source, Shah Rukh Khan feels that he is taken for granted by the Chopras and is treated badly on the sets of their movies inspite of his star status. The Chopras seem to have a condescending attitude towards him, is what Shah Rukh Khan feels. The Chopras even feel that in the case of their films, Shah Rukh Khan should reduce the price that he normally charges for acting in movies. It is well known in Bollywood that actors and actresses are willing to work at much lower prices just to get a role in a Yash Raj Films movie, such is the clout of the Chopras in the industry.
Also, Shah Rukh Khan is upset since his close friend, Karan Johar is yet to receive a large sum of money which the Chopras owe to Karan. But Karan being the gentleman that he is, has never raised the issue directly with the Chopras.
Relations have deteriorated to such a level that Karan Johar will not be distributing his next 2 films, "Wake Up Sid" and Rensil D'Silva's movie, through Yash Raj Films which he normally used to do. Also, Yash Raj Films is negotiating with none other than Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan's rival for the No. 1 slot in Bollywood), for their next movie which will be directed by Yash Chopra himself.
So, has the relation finally ended? Only time will tell.
